Summary: And now for some Japan-flavored cyberpunk! And it wouldn't be Japan if most of the robots weren't pretty darned big, now would it? Okay maybe it would, but not this time!

History: In the not so distant future (of 2005, go figure), after the invaluable Texmexium was discovered, a new supercomputer named Kyron-5 deemed mankind expendable, and waged a full-scale robot war on us all. The war left no victors, and now Kyron-5 plots away, almost completely forgotten, and guarded by the massive Aerobot. However, it's just been waiting to dominate us with perfected Texmexium, and now a ragtag bunch of misfits have to use the last good robot, known as a GUNHED, to stop it.

Final Fate: Despite being trashed by the Aerobot (who gets gunned down), GUNHED manages to delay Kyron-5's self-destruct sequence after the AI's plans are foiled by the humans. The noble machine's last act is to declare that the war has finally been won in the humans' favor.

Powers/Abilities: Most of the robots have an array of guns and lasers at their disposal, with GUNHED able to shift from robot to tank modes. Kylon-5 can also assimilate robots and humans and put them together in horrific fashion.

Weakness: Heavy artilery.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Kylon-5 can best be described as a lazy Skynet, preferring to remain alone for longer than usual with its robo-servants. GUNHED of course, is a good guy, and a fairly badass one at that. A pity he went down easily.

Trivia: -Believe it or not, this film was the result of a contest Toho held to see what the next Godzilla film would be about in 1986. One idea was that Godzilla was to go up against a rogue AI, but that got put in second place in favor of "Godzilla vs. Biollante". Still, the idea got reworked into this film instead. Pity.

-Would you believe this was one of James Cameron’s favorite films? Pretty decent luck for a film obviously cribbing a bit from "Judgement Day".
